The summer season marks the beginning of vacation season. There is nothing like a short and relaxing hotel getaway in a different city or state for a change of atmosphere.
The first night is dedicated for getting acclimated to the foreign room. Getting used to the new bed and pillow, the AC humming and the hallway noises. It is really annoying when people return to their rooms late at night and disturb everyone. When we arrive late, we practically scream at the kids to be quiet and we make sure to slam the door ever so gently.
The rich breakfast includes the holy trinity of waffle-muffin-bagel which makes you long for the Israeli hotel breakfast. The kind of breakfast that keeps you full for two straight days and includes fresh veggies and real eggs.
Sleeping with the kids in one room is also a very interesting experience. Who knew they snore? They also toss and turn all night long…
The kids get attached to the room right away and refuse to leave it. Why should they? All their immediate necessities (Wi-Fi and T.V) are right there. Eventually they agree to join us for some site seeing. Attractions that we never even dreamed of seeing as children produce a very minimal reaction on their side. It is not surprising, as our kids are quite the world-travelers, visiting foreign and exciting places on a regular basis. At the end of the day they have fun of course, although they will never admit it, and they even get excited about things we grownups take for granted, like the airport train…
Have a safe and fun vacation!
